Review By: Will Harrison
Football season may be months away, but the fans that crowded the Club Lounge at Seahawks Stadium on May 15th proved they were already in mid-season form. On that Saturday evening, the best sports facility in the Pacific Northwest hosted the Annual Sea Hawkers Banquet. Seahawk fans from all over the country flew in to enjoy a succulent beef and salmon dinner, shoot the breeze with fellow Hawk fans, and watch the official 2003 highlight video.
Headlining the evening’s entertainment was Brian Oakes, a/k/a “New Yawk
Seahawk,” who hosted the event and kept the crowd in stitches with jokes and
the occasional improv routine (including a brief rendition of “La Bamba”).
Brian also told the story of how he became a Sea Hawker after traveling to
Seattle in the fall of 2001 and presented Sea Hawkers Council President Smokey
Simons with an authentic road Seahawk jersey with the name "Smokey" on
the back. Brian said they chose a road jersey in the hopes to get Smokey and as
many Sea Hawkers to the east coast this season for the December 19th game
against the NY Jets.

This year's Visa Hall Of Fame for Fans inductee was also introduced. Brad
"Cannonball" Carter will represent the Seahawks in Canton this year.
Brad spoke about what the award meant to him and was also presented this framed
award on behalf of the Sea Hawkers.

Brian also read a letter from an American soldier praising the efforts of Traci Williams, this year’s Sea Hawker of the Year Award winner.
Traci earned her award for all of the time and effort spent in establishing the Military Sea Hawkers chapter, founded to spread Seahawks cheer to many of the men and women who are currently fighting for our country. Deployment can be a lonely place, and Traci is committed to making sure these brave soldiers get a little piece of home every now and then. Congratulations, Traci!

Seahawks in attendance included Jerramy Stevens and Cedric Woodard. Also there was backup center Dennis Norman, who accepted the Most Improved Player award on behalf of fullback Mack Strong. Sea Gals Sarah, Kiara, DeAnna, Shelly, and Shyla were there to sign posters and pose for photographs.
Sea Gals Sarah and Kiara were also gracious enough to regale a captive audience with stories from their recent trip to the Middle East.
The Gals were presented these framed awards as a token of the Sea Hawkers thanks
for speaking so candidly about their experiences.
