Marcus Trufant won the Sea Hawkers’ Most Improved Player Award for a 2004 season that built upon an impressive campaign his rookie year. In 2004, Trufant finished first on the team in tackles with 94, tied for second in interceptions with 5, and sacked San Francisco’s Tim Rattay. Trufant was a consistent, reliable presence in the secondary all year long and held his own against receivers such as Randy Moss and Torry Holt. His interceptions against Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Atlanta played a large role in three tough wins.
