A Special Visit: My Dad Comes to Seattle for Mets, Mariners, and More

This week is an exciting one—my dad is coming to visit me in Seattle, and we’re making it all about sports. Although growing up, we were not very close and time together was limited, I do remember making trips to Shea Stadium and then Citi Field whenever we could. Now, with the Mets in town to take on the Mariners, it’s the perfect excuse for him to finally visit Seattle and for us to relive those memories in a new setting.

Seattle may be my home now, but baseball has a way of making any ballpark feel familiar. T-Mobile Park is a beautiful place to watch a game, and I can’t wait to experience it with my dad. From the energy of the crowd to the smell of garlic fries and hot dogs in the air, I know we’re in for a great time. We’ve already mapped out our plan—getting there early for batting practice, grabbing some good seats, and, of course, debating every managerial decision like we always do.

But this trip isn’t just about baseball. My dad has always loved live horse racing, so we’re making a stop at Emerald Downs to watch the races. There’s something about the atmosphere at the track—the sound of hooves pounding, the excitement of picking the right horse, and the rush of a close finish—that I know he’s going to love. And since this is his first time in Seattle, we’re also checking out the Space Needle for the classic tourist experience. Even though I’ve seen the view before, it’ll be fun to experience it with him and hear his thoughts on my city from 600 feet in the air.

This visit isn’t just about the Mets or the Mariners—it’s about reconnecting and enjoying everything Seattle has to offer. Whether we’re at the ballpark, the racetrack, or looking out over the skyline, I know this weekend will be one to remember.
