From the Big Apple to the Emerald City – Finding Home in Seattle
After years of dreaming about making Seattle my home, I finally took the leap and moved from New York to the city that has always held a special place in my heart. As a lifelong Seahawks fan, my first visit to Seattle shortly after September 11th, 2001, gave me an unexplainable sense of peace and belonging. The city’s stunning natural beauty, friendly atmosphere, and undeniable energy made it feel like home long before I lived here. Now that I’m finally here, I can’t help but reflect on how incredible this journey has been.
One of the most breathtaking aspects of my new home is the view. Living just blocks from the iconic Space Needle, I get to see it every day as a reminder of the city’s vibrant culture and history. Even more remarkable is the panoramic view I have of Puget Sound and Elliott Bay, with the majestic Olympic Mountains providing a stunning backdrop. Each evening, I get to watch the sun set over the water, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink—it’s a daily reminder of how fortunate I am to be here. Plus, being only a short walk from Pike Place Market and the Elliott Bay Waterfront Trail means I can experience the best of Seattle’s energy and nature just steps from my front door.
As a lifelong sports fan, another dream-come-true is living just minutes from Seattle’s major sports venues. Whether it’s catching a Kraken hockey game at Climate Pledge Arena, watching the Mariners take the field at T-Mobile Park, or cheering on the Seahawks at Lumen Field, I’m never far from the action. The electric atmosphere of Seattle’s sports scene is something I’ve always admired from afar, and now, being able to experience it firsthand whenever I want is truly surreal.
Despite the excitement of this new chapter, leaving New York wasn’t easy. The city shaped me in ways I will always cherish, and its fast-paced energy, unmatched food scene, and deep-rooted culture will always be a part of who I am. From the bright lights of Times Square to the quiet beauty of Central Park, New York will forever be my first home. However, Seattle has long been the place I’ve dreamed of calling home, and I am beyond grateful to finally make that dream a reality. Whether I’m strolling through Pike Place Market, walking along the Elliott Bay Waterfront Trail, or heading to a game just minutes away, I know I am exactly where I am meant to be.
